Melissa Chavez:
I was born on October 25, 1990, in Ventura, California. I live in Oxnard though. I’ve seen the world’s biggest city. I’ve loved and played soccer for more than half of my life. My parents are still together. My best friend left to Carson City. My brothers are always looking up to me. I have a lot of friends but unfortunately the closest and most trustworthy one left to Dominguez Hills this year. My school is huge and amazing. It’s my first year. My grandma left me my senior year of High School in which she wasn’t able to see me receive my high school diploma. I wasn’t able to say goodbye. My cousins are like brothers and sisters to me. We always hang out and know how to have a good time. Me and my High School soccer team won first in league for the first time in history. We were also the first girl’s team to win league in history. High School was the best for me. I’m the youngest of my friends. I visit Mexico every year. My family always receives me with open arms. I’ve never fallen in love. I’ve been driving since I was 15 and a half. I’ve seen 13 year old boys and girls drink and smoke. I plan to do well in school this year. I drive a Toyota FJ Cruiser. I have over 45 cousins and I love them all. Even though I still haven’t met a few. I’ve seen the World Trade Center collapse at least 25 times on television. I wish I could see my grandma again. My favorite colors are pink, red and bright green. I love eating Mexican and Italian food. I’ve had an international game against Mexico. I miss the traditions my family used to have. Traditions like breaking the piñata or eating pozole every Saturday morning. I like speaking Spanish more than English. My favorite shoes are Vans and Converse. I drove through the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. I’ve been asked for my autograph which was pretty cool. I’m usually the tallest of my friends. I have horrible vision but hate wearing my glasses. Skinny jeans are my fave. I can care less of what people think of me. I believe that I’m not born to fit in, but to live and stand out.
