Summary
The article contains information about an airplane crash that occurred on August 20, 2008 in Madrid, Spain. The accident caused 153 deaths including 19 children and infants. Only 25 bodies were identified the day after the crash. The airplane was part of Spanair, the second largest airline in Spain. The Spanair flight was on its way to the Canary Islands and then the devestating occurred. The investigators of the crash are still uncertain of the main affect of why the crash happened, but one assumption is that one of the two engines failed and caught fire.
Comments
The King and Queen of Spain showed thier respect to the disaster and deaths of the people by visting the makeshift morgue where the bodies were taken. Both of the palne's black boxes have been recovered. The jetliner abandoned the first take off attempt due to overheating of the air gauge. Technicians checked the plane after the abandoned take off and then cleared it safe for a second attempt for flight. One Spanish couple were late to the flight by three minutes and missed the crash.
Thoughts
It is very unfortunate that this crash occurred and the crash was Spain's worse disaster in over 25 years. I do not understand why the technicians of the plane did not find any problems even though the air gauge was showning signs over overheating. It is devasting to know that women, children and innocent people were killed. I believe that technicians at all airports need to be extra cautious with planes that have abandoned their first flight.
