Melissa's defining the essay:

Narrative essays offer the writer a chance to think and write about themselves. You are telling a story in a narrative essay. They’re told from different points of views, usually the author’s. Because of this, it is easier to feel the story. There are plenty of specific and sensory details provided to get the reader involved in the elements and sequence of the story. This essay makes a point which is often defined in the first sentence or the last sentence in the first paragraph. If you are planning on writing your essay in a form of a story, be sure to include all the conventions of storytelling: plot, character, setting, climax, and ending. The details in the story should be carefully used to explain, support, or embellish the story. They all relate to the main point the author is trying to make. The reason narrative essays are so fun is because the reader has an opportunity to make a universal statement that he or she wants the world to see.
