The U.S. wants to set a date of when they plan to get all the U.S. troops out of major Iraqi cities by next summer. Although the Iraqi approval for withdrawal would be by the winter of 2011.
For the past few months President Bush has hesitated to create a timetable for the U.S. troops to exit out of Iraq, but they still want to have presence there just in case things continue to get out of hand. The situation would be in the hands of the next President, which will consume office next January, both candidates have opposite opinions on whether the troops remain or leave Iraq.
Obama wants to pull-out troops within his first 16 months of presidency; while McCain wants to have the troops remain in Iraq.
My Opinion
This war is the cause of all the problems that are happening here at home, an example would be the gas prices, during the early parts of summer the prices made a huge jump, but now are seeming to settle down a little. The withdrawal from the troops from Iraq, i think, would not only benefit the people who have loved ones fighting in the war but also the nations people. Many people support Democratic Candidate Obama because of his proposal to bring the troops back in a small amount of time. Why still have troops in Iraq, what is still the purpose?.....
